It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The top summits have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's challenging for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

That loss "drove us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it has been a challenging time because I feel like I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was on her way.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was removed the team required another 66 at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm happy we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
